House Cats

Any cat can technically be a house cat. However, some breeds are more inclined to be an indoor cat than others. In other words, they are more content spending the majority of their time inside and don’t have as strong of an urge to wander and explore the outside world. These breeds, in particular, make great apartment companions.

Don’t let the name fool you; any breed can be a house cat, but some might drive you crazy without proper stimulation. Breeds, such as Burmese or Ragdoll, tend to be more laid-back and don’t require as much exercise as, say, a Savannah cat or Bengal cat. The more intelligent and active breeds can adjust to a life lived indoors, but you’ll need to provide adequate ways for them to play and get exercise inside your home. After all, even indoor cats still have an instinct to stalk and catch prey and climb on top of furniture or cabinets. Typical house cat breeds are not only mellow, they’re also social, friendly, and need your affection. They make excellent cuddly companions for houses or apartments of any size.
